What a Two Weeks!!
An apology, and update and some good news

Dear friends,
Two stressful weeks
I certainly missed writing to you last week, but I have a good reason!
Since January 2, we had been vacationing in Arizona. (Pictures in next post.)
I returned home late at night on March 14 and stayed at my daughter’s place since the water and water heater were off. The next few days were filled with unpacking.
On Sunday, I taught Sunday School to eight kids, ranging in age from 3 to 13. We read a story, acted it out together, painted a watercolour illustration, and sang a song. It was a wonderful time, but by the end, someone told me I looked exhausted.
I guess I had been running on adrenaline!
Monday night, my husband arrived home after driving back with our son in just three days. By Tuesday, we were both a little out of it—plus, there was still more unpacking to do.
A new puppy!
Wednesday was an exciting day—we drove 90 minutes to pick up our new puppy, a 7-month-old Bichon! The ride home was uneventful, except for a little carsickness in the crate. But after a sleepless night, I started noticing some concerning signs—she was drinking excessively, and peeing frequently (despite frequent trips outside). She was not house trained yet.
She was cute, cuddly and a sweetheart.
I had already booked a vet appointment for Friday for a meet and greet. I thought she might have a UTI. I was able to collect a pee sample and a poop sample.
Unfortunately, after several tests, and 6 hours of waiting, the vet diagnosed her with pancreatitis and diabetes. We spent the next two days adjusting to her needs, and while her housetraining (or rather, our watchfulness) was improving, the stress was taking a toll on me.
On Sunday evening, I called the breeder to discuss everything. She agreed to take the puppy back. So on Monday afternoon, we made the trip. After showing her all that I had learned, I went to give her the insulin—only to realize I had forgotten to bring it!
Praise God, I was able to get a replacement vial through our vet and hers. After saying goodbye, we had dinner in town and made the long drive home, arriving at 8:30 p.m.
What a time!
For now, we’re not looking for another dog. We lost our 14 ½-year-old Maltipoo at the end of November, and after losing this one, we’re just not ready yet.
But that’s why I didn’t write last week and why this week is late.
Now for the good news!
Yesterday, I saw a posting that reminded me I could enter my children’s book, Two Sisters: The Story of Mary and Martha, into a competition. It was published last year, and I’m excited for this opportunity! Finding my files took some time (organization isn’t my strong suit as a creative!), but I did it and sent in my entry. I’m hoping to be in the running!
For those who aren’t familiar with the book, here’s a little about it:
Martha is overwhelmed with stress and worry. She's determined to make everything perfect for Jesus' visit, consumed by concerns about the food, the house, and the plates.
But when Jesus arrives, her sister Mary stops helping and sits down to listen to him, leaving Martha with even more to do.
Frustration boils over as Martha asks Jesus to tell Mary to help.
Will Jesus instruct Mary to assist her sister in the kitchen?
Can Martha handle everything on her own if he doesn't?
What will Martha do next?
This beautifully illustrated book features hand-painted watercolour pictures, and at the back, you’ll find activities perfect for parents, Sunday school teachers, homeschoolers, and Christian schools.
You can purchase Two Sisters: The Story of Mary and Martha on Amazon—check your country’s Amazon store!
I always end my posts with a prayer. And I almost forgot.
May I pray for you and me?
Heavenly Father, we thank You that You are our strength. It’s at times like these, that we truly feel Your comfort and presence. Continue to guide us through our days. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Thanks for being part of Growing through God’s Word.
Blessings

Sorry to hear about the dog. You have had a lot going on!
Sorry to hear about the Pup, Jan. You certainly didn't need any more stress! Hope you have some time to relax now. I picked up a flu bug last week and still feeling wiped out. Hope to be well by Monday for a dermatologist's appointment. We'll see.
Blessings, Marcia
