Hi friends,
We had a reflective day of remembrance yesterday. I think my American friends have Veteran’s Day. One big difference - no advertising is allowed on our Canadian Remembrance Day. Only poppies are sold by the Canadian Legion (donations).
I hope you enjoyed my devotional last week. I’m learning to be quiet before God for at least five minutes a day. I study one verse using my Simple Bible Study method and using my Super Simple Bible Study Journal. Have you tried it?
Before I start to study a verse, I ask God to open His word to my heart and mind.
Today I read Psalm 139:2
You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar. (NIV)You perceive every movement of my heart and soul, and you understand my every thought before it even enters my mind. (TPT)
I’m an open book to you;
even from a distance, you know what I’m thinking. (MSG)As I read through these translations, I knew that God sees me.
Looking closer to the words
Know — have understanding, discern, be familiar with. In Hebrew,
the word “yada” means to know properly, ascertain by seeing, observing.
I took a look at two other scriptures about how God knows me.
Jesus knew what they were thinking. (Matthew 9:4, NLT)
But perceiving their thoughts, Jesus replied to them. (Matthew 9:4, Holman Christian Standard Bible)
This shows Jesus knows what I am thinking.
But Jesus didn’t trust them, because he knew all about people. No one needed to tell him about human nature, for he knew what was in each person’s heart. (John 2:24–25, NLT)
And this shows that Jesus knows ALL about me.
Conclusion
God sees me. God knows me well.
That’s really close. He knows me better than anyone else does. Even better than I know myself.
What do I need to do?
I need to have faith and trust. Other people don’t know me like God does. I need to listen to God, not other people. God does not change. He will not leave me — ever.
This is why I can seek His advice. I can watch for signs and act when He calls.
May I pray for you and me?
Heavenly Father, the God who sees us — El Roi. Thank You for knowing us and understanding us. Keep showing us our path. Keep comforting us when we need it. Keep strengthening us when we are weak. Inspire those who write about who You are so others can learn about You. Help us make decisions. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
And as always, if you want any prayer request reply to this email or comment below.
Here is another post about our relationship with God.

Wonderful! Prayers for my family to know God like he knows them ( us all 😊). Can I pray for you?
Wonderful as is the artwork. Thank you very much for this.
